Guidelines for Themed Topics/Issues Published in AAPS PharmSciTech
- AAPS PharmSciTech invites the submission and publication of themed topics/issues
on contemporary issues in the pharmaceutical sciences. These themed topics/issues
may be solicited by the editor, or voluntarily submitted.
- When published from symposia and workshops, the articles are to be entitled
"AAPS Themed Topic/Issue: ...(insert the official symposium title)...". Suitable
footnotes will acknowledge the relevant symposium and meeting
- Ordinarily, these themed topics and issues are guest edited by leading
investigators in the field, or by symposia/workshop organizers, with suitable
acknowledgement by the journal. The editor of the journal, however, will make
the final editorial decisions.
- For symposia/workshop contributions, it is not necessary that all oral
presentations will result in written publications, but it is desirable to have
a critical mass (say, no less than three articles) for the heading mentioned in
item #1 to be used; if less than 3 papers are received, they can be considered
individually for publication as a stand-alone paper (with a footnote denoting
its affiliation with the symposium concerned).
- At the discretion of the guest editor(s) and the journal editor, additional
papers may be invited, if desired, with appropriate footnotes to denote such
invitations.
- Each proceeding paper would ideally be in the format of a "state-of-the-art"
review, of at least 3500 words (about 8 manuscript pages), with suitable tables,
figures and references. However, variations to this format may be made at the joint
discretion of the guest editor and the journal editor.
- These manuscripts will undergo peer-review and editorial review, consistent
with the policy of the journal.
- If appropriate, such proceedings may be considered for publication as a book,
either alternatively or subsequent to journal publication.
- Ideally, themed topics/issues arising from symposia/workshop are published
within 6 months of the relevant meeting.
- Papers should be submitted online to manuscripts@aaps.org
according to the style of the journal (see instructions to authors,
www.aapspharmscitech.org/about/default.asp?nav=1).
Please indicate the title of the "themed issue/topic" on the cover-page of the submission
communication.
